Montana

Home to some of the best stories and most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen, Whitefish, MT holds a special place in my heart. After rolling my bags out of Kalispell Airport, my first hours in the state were spent on the dirt road to Polebridge, an off-the-grid mountain town near Glacier National Park.

No words could describe the feeling that washed over me when I set up onstage at the Northern Lights Saloon. The panoramic view from where I sat in that gazebo was enough to inspire a whole future album. The venue itself was like nothing I’d ever seen: there were gorgeous mountain views surrounding us, crisp air, great community, not to mention the great huckleberry lemonade!!

In Montana, I learned a lot about what it meant to be present - I often find myself so wrapped up in the desire to be constantly creating that I forget to slow down and absorb the moment, from my senses through to my memory. In my time there, I felt like I flipped a switch in my brain that made me realize: the world is up here! and life is happening right now! Like Ferris Bueller says, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Overall, this was the best last show EVER for my Rockies tour. The only thing I didn’t do was see Bigfoot. But there’s always next time…
